Young man stabbed to death at Omungwelume

OMUNGWELUME, 08 APR (NAMPA) – A 25-year-old man died from a stab wound at the Omungwelume settlement of the Ongenga Constituency on Sunday evening.
The Namibia Police Force (NamPol) in the Ohangwena Region said Lazarus Shikolonya succumbed to his injury upon arrival at the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital shortly after the incident.
NamPol’s spokesperson in the Ohangwena Region, Sergeant Kaume Iitumba told Nampa on Monday that Shikolonya was stabbed with a knife once on the left side of his chest.
This allegedly followed a quarrel between him and a 21-year-old man at the Onhokolo Bar in the Omungwelume settlement at about 23h00 on the same night.
Shikolonya is from the Ombenoni village, and the suspect is from the Okambebe village.
The suspect has been arrested, and was expected to appear in the magistrate’s court at either Omungwelume or Oshakati on Tuesday.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
Police investigations are underway.
