OKAKARARA, 07 APR (NAMPA) The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI)s branch at Okakarara elected its new leadership on Saturday.
Jackson Hindjou, who was the acting chairperson of the Okakarara NCCI branch for the past two years, was elected as chairperson.
Donald Munoko was elected vice-chairperson, while Benson Mootu will be the treasurer.
Six additional members elected were Ananias Uahupirapi, Erastofine Katusuva, Mbayoroka Tjizepa, Clence Kavetuna, Zondunge Kakujaha and Dolly Katjaita.
The new leadership is expected to serve this branch for a period of two years.
The Okakarara NCCI branch was founded five years ago, but was in a dormant state.
In 2013, a group of businesspeople in Okakarara gathered to re-activate the branch, explained Hindjou.
Since then, several consultative meetings between the local businesspeople, the Okakarara Town Council and the Otjozondjupa Regional Council took place.
This led to the election of the Okakarara NCCI branch leadership in the presence of NCCI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tarah Shaanika.
The annual general meeting also formulated a detailed action plan to guide the new leaders during their term of office.
The Okakarara NCCI is expected to establish a small and medium entrepreneurial development trust fund, which will provide some of its members with start-up capital for business, material and equipment.
The branch has 36 active registered members.
