OUTAPI, 06 APR (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Omusati Region on Friday arrested three Angolan nationals found without proper immigration documents.
Warrant Officer Lineekela Shikongo of the NamPol’s public relations unit in that region confirmed this to Nampa on Sunday.
Shikongo said the three men were apprehended on the Namibian-Angolan border whilst attempting to smuggle three vehicles from Namibia into Angola.
They were arrested between the Omindaba and Okapalelona villages, following a tip-off from local members of the Women and Men’s Network against Crime.
Shikongo said the three vehicles were properly acquired in Namibia, but they are not allowed to be taken into Angola because they are overaged (more than five years old).
The Police were still to formulate charges regarding the car smuggling.
The three were declared illegal immigrants, and are now waiting to be brought before an immigration tribunal which is competent to hear their case.
