WINDHOEK, 06 APR (NAMPA) A woman living with disabilities was allegedly raped in her house at the Klein Aub settlement of the Hardap Region on Saturday at about 02h00.
The Namibian Police Force Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi told the media here on Sunday that the suspect broke open the window of the room in which the victim was sleeping, and raped her.
The 44-year-old suspect was arrested, and is expected to appear in the Rehoboth Magistrates Court on Monday.
In an unrelated incident, the Piet Rooi, 38, was on Saturday stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle and died.
The deceased and accused were drinking together at Club Desert Stream in Aroab of the //Karas Region.
A 27-year-old male who is related to the deceased, was arrested and is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrates Court on Monday.
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old Analize Goses died on Saturday after the car she was traveling in overturned on the road between Swakopmund and Arandis.
Goses died on the scene while three other passengers sustained serious injuries, and are currently receiving treatment in the Swakopmund and Windhoek state hospitals.
Kanguatjivi explained that the driver of the vehicle was busy overtaking another car, and in the process lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
In a separate incident, three children escaped with burns after the shack they were sleeping in caught fire in Omaruru, Erongo Region on Saturday.
It is alleged that a female adult left the nine-year-old boy, five-year-old boy and three-year-old girl alone while she went to a shop.
It was raining, and the shack was struck by lightning and caught fire, Kanguatjivi said, adding that the three children managed to escape with burns on their heads and arms.
They are currently admitted in the Omaruru State Hospital.
