Woman beaten up, raped at Opuwo: NamPol

WINDHOEK, 07 JUL (NAMPA) ? The Opuwo police are investigating a case of rape after an unknown suspect beat up a 28-year-old woman before raping her at Opuwo in the Kunene Region on Friday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Inspector Stephen Nuuyi told members of the media here on Sunday the incident took place between 18h00 and 19h00 in the Orutjandja area.
No arrests have been made in connection with the matter, and police investigations continue.
In an unrelated incident in the Kunene Region, the police at Kamanjab are investigating a case of stock theft after three suspects - two aged 23 and one aged 33 - were arrested at Farm Frans Pos.
Nuuyi said the suspects were found in possession of eight heads of cattle valued at N.dollars 22 000. The cattle are suspected to have been stolen from Farm Geboortereg. The police investigation continues.
At Okahao in the Omusati Region, a case of attempted murder is being investigated after a 40-year-old man allegedly stabbed his friend with a traditional knife several times in the chest, head and buttocks on Thursday. The incident took place at around 20h00 at Ezile Cuca-Shop in Omukondo village after a quarrel erupted between the two friends. The victim was admitted to the Okahao State Hospital, from where he was transferred to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital. His condition is reported to be stable. The suspect is expected to appear in the Okahao Magistrate?s Court on Monday.
Meanwhile, the police at Koes in the Hardap Region are investigating a murder case after a 29-year-old male allegedly stabbed Jacobus Snewe, 23, with a sharp object. The incident took place at ?Soek+Kry? in the village on Friday at about 17h00. The victim was allegedly stabbed in the back, and he died on the spot.
The murder weapon has not yet been recovered. Police investigations into the matter continue.
