Two people die in accident at Okondjatu

OTJIWARONGO, 01 APR (NAMPA) - Two people died on the spot after they were involved in an accident at the Okondjatu T-junction in the Otjozondjupa Region on Monday afternoon.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha said the deceased have been identified as Samuel Kauari, 62, and the 47-year-old Kaupa Ngarangombe.
“Their relatives have been informed,” Mbeha said in an interview on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at around 16h40.
The vehicle was headed to a village in the Okakarara Constituency’s Okondjatu area.
It is suspected that the 41-year-old driver of the Isuzu pick-up, Uakumbua Putuaota, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and roll several times.
He sustained a number of injuries and was rushed to the Okakarara State Hospital.
A culpable homicide case under CR no. 06/03/2014 has been opened against Putuaota at the Okondjatu Police Station.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
