/Ae //Gams Festival to kick off next week

WINDHOEK, 26 MAR (NAMPA) - The annual /Ae //Gams Arts and Cultural Festival of the City of Windhoek will kick off next Tuesday.
The six-day festival will end on 06 April at various venues across the city.
According to a media statement issued by the City of Windhoek here on Tuesday, a powerhouse of Namibian musicians and artists will be featured during the opening event, including the University of Namibia choir, the Original Jazz Masters, Hozala Entertainment, Papa Shikongeni, Big Ben, Lady May, Essence, Ras Sheehama, Sunny Boy, Tequila, EES and the Stanley Mareka Dance Troupe.
“These artists will take will take us on a trip down memory lane with songs and dancing styles which kept us moving during the difficult times and gave us hope to move forward”, the statement said.
Songs from departed legends such as Jackson Kaujeua and the likes of Brenda Fassie and Lucky Dube will also be performed, while events which led to Namibia's independence such as the Cassinga massacre will be portrayed through music and visuals.
