Windhoek residents have been delayed getting to work this morning, as a result of a strike by Windhoek taxi drivers.

Taxi drivers in Katutura have been encouraging other drivers to leave the pedestrians stranded on the side of the road, while they prepare to meet in Katutura to organize themselves for the strike.

The strike is a demonstration against the high traffic fines while advocating for a possible increase on taxi fare. Although they have been demanding for a N$13 increase in taxi fare, that is not their main focus, but their concerns are mostly with the increase traffic fines . They say they will not get back on the road until their demands are met.
