OTJIWARONGO, 16 MAR (NAMPA) – The Swapo-Party’s Otjozondjupa regional executive committee members are expected to hold a one-day closed-door meeting with party president, Hifikepunye Pohamba on Monday.
The party’s regional co-ordinator for Otjozondjupa, Susan Hikopua told Nampa in an interview on Saturday Pohamba will meet with the regional executive committee members at the Swapo-Party headquarters in Otjiwarongo.
“The meeting starts at 09h00,” she said, adding that all the district co-ordinators and their information and mobilisation officers are expected to attend the meeting.
Hikopua, acting regional information and mobiliser for Otjozondjupa, Steve Biko Booys and Julius Neumbo, the party’s regional treasurer are also expected to attend.
Also expected at Monday’s meeting are the six national political leaders assigned to the Otjozondjupa Region - Leon Jooste, Ndapewa Nambili, Samuel Nuuyoma, Calle Schlettwein, Peter Katjavivi and their chairperson, Nahas Angula.
A source within the party told Nampa on Saturday Pohamba is deeply concerned about an alleged “cold war” in the Okahandja and Grootfontein Swapo-Party districts.
The source said members in both political district leaderships are allegedly divided into two groups that do not see eye to eye.
It is alleged that the Otjozondjupa Regional Swapo-Party leadership had already in 2013 referred their differences to the office of the Swapo-Party Secretary-General Nangolo Mbumba for action, but up to now nothing has apparently been done to restore peace amongst the rivals.
According to the source, the matter will dominate the discussions with the Swapo-Party president on Monday.
Meanwhile, Pohamba is expected to officially inaugurate the headquarters of the Central North Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) in Otjiwarongo on Tuesday morning before he returns to Windhoek.
