Girl hit by train at Walvis Bay

WALVIS BAY, 22 JUN (NAMPA) - A 14-year- old girl sustained serious injuries when she was hit by an oncoming train in Walvis Bay on Friday afternoon.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)?s Crime Investigations Coordinator in the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa told Nampa on Saturday the girl had been attempting to cross the railway line in the harbour town?s southern industrial area and did not notice the train approaching.
Kashuupulwa could not reveal the exact details of the incident, and said the police are still busy investigating the matter.
The girl is alive, but her one arm and one leg were severed during the accident.
Kashuupulwa explained that she has been transferred to Windhoek for specialist medical treatment.
The girl?s name could not be revealed as the police were still in the process of notifying her parents of the incident.
