ONGWEDIVA, 18 JUN (NAMPA) ? Sixteen members of the Karate-Zen Oshakati Club, who were selected for the Namibian national team, are hard at work training five times a week here in preparation for the upcoming Zone Six Games.
The games will take place in Windhoek on 28 and 29 June.
Karateka from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, South Africa and Mozambique are also expected to take part.
Team manager of Karate-Zen Namibia, Shihan Freddy Mwiya told Nampa on Monday the fitness level of his players is excellent and they only need national support in their training and during the Zone Six championships.
Mwiya said the 16 members of Karate-Zen Oshakati have great experience, as many of them have participated in various international competitions such as the Commonwealth Games.
According to Mwiya, members of Karate-Zen Oshakati will be in Windhoek on 27 June to join the rest of the 55-member national team to build Team Namibia?s spirit.
A building materials? business at Ongwediva, Pennypinchers, last Saturday sponsored the national team members from Karate-Zen Oshakati with N.dollars 17 600.
Pennypinchers also sponsored the entire national team with 57 T-shirts to the value of N.dollars 5 600 and refreshments valued at N.dollars 1 500.
The national team members from Karate-Zen Oshakati are Freddy Mwiya Jr, Shane Maart, Lilly Mwiya, Julien Fuentes, Lisa Mwiya, Laura Koskenkangas, Suzzette Augustinus, Nangolo Gabriel, Anton de Koe, Celestie Potgieter, Kennedy Iipinge, Megane Cupido, Sylvia Iyambo, Nathan Leopald, Yotham Simasiku and Tasha Maart.
