OPUWO, 27 FEB (NAMPA) – Environment and Tourism Minister Uahekua Herunga will launch a five-day roadshow on the Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) of Namibia here on Friday.
The four-stop roadshow targets the four local authorities of Opuwo, Outapi, Ongwediva and Eenhana, as well as other institutions in northern Namibia in the first phase of the roadshow.
The objective is to raise local interest and awareness of the EIF.
The EIF was officially launched in 2012, and is funded by Government.
The fund supports individuals, projects and communities which ensure the sustainable use of resources.
The EIF has thus far financed 26 projects across the country, of which some are in various stages of implementation.
Herunga will be accompanied by EIF chairperson Theo Nghitila, who is also the country’s Environmental Commissioner, during the roadshow.
Kunene Regional Governor Josua Hoebeb is expected to attend the launch.
