ONGWEDIVA, 26 FEB (NAMPA) - Secretary for Information and Publicity of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) in the Oshana Region, Eino Heelu, will relinquish his portfolio this weekend.
He told Nampa on Wednesday a new regional secretary for information and publicity will be elected during the party’s regional committee meeting set to be held at Ongwediva on Sunday.
Heelu has to surrender his regional position as a result of his election as a member of the RDP’s 21-member National Executive Committee (NEC) during the party’s second convention held in Windhoek last November.
Apart from being a member of the NEC, Heelu was also elected a member of the central committee of the RDP, as well as secretary of education and training of that political organisation.
He took over from the former secretary for education and training, Miriam Hamutenya, who is now in charge of the party’s national organisation and political orientation.
According to Heelu, Lebeus Hamata, Penny Ndaitwah and Nelson Katenda are the other RDP leaders in the Oshana Region who were elected for national leadership during the convention in November.
They are also expected to vacate their regional portfolios.
