Quarrel over jacket leads to death in Swakop

WINDHOEK, 23 FEB (NAMPA) - A 26-year-old man died in the early hours of Saturday in Swakopmund after he was stabbed to death during a quarrel over a jacket.
The victim was identified as Mervin Wasserfoll. He succumbed to the stab wound at a later stage in the Swakopmund State Hospital.
Sergeant Slogan Matheus of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Public Relations Division told a media conference here on Sunday afternoon that the deceased and the suspect, 24, were allegedly embroiled in a heated argument over a jacket which the suspect borrowed the deceased.
The suspect allegedly fled the scene of the crime, but was later arrested at a friend’s house in the DRC informal settlement at the town.
Police in the Erongo Region are investigating the case.
The police at Keetmanshoop in the //Karas Region reported that David Diefer Albertz, 41, ended his life on Saturday at about 12h30 by shooting himself with a hunting rifle.
He died on the spot.
The rifle reportedly belongs to his biological father.
Also in the //Karas Region, Dawid Vries, 53, died on Saturday at about 04h00 when the driver of a Toyota Corolla sedan he was traveling in, lost control of the vehicle on the Tses-Aroab gravel road causing it to overturn.
Vries died on the spot, and the diver of the vehicle, Emil Kahuika, 33, sustained slight injuries.
The police at Outapi in the Omusati Region said Brasius Nangolo, 30, allegedly ended his life by hanging himself with a rope from a tree within the premises of his homestead at the Onakayale village in the Anamulenge area on Saturday at about 19h00.
In a separate incident, the Onandjaba Police reported that a group of unknown persons allegedly entered a house at the Olupito village and stole a safe containing an amount of N.dollars 28 000 in cash.
The suspects also stole a pistol with its magazines.
It is reported that two of the suspects, both 24 years old, have already been arrested by the police on the same day, and the stolen pistol was recovered.
Also in the Omusati Region, a 43-year-old man was arrested by police at the Okafima Kanangolo village in the Okalongo area on Saturday after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl, and in the process impregnated her.
The suspect will appear in the Outapi Magistrate's Court on Monday.
