WINDHOEK, 21 FEB (NAMPA) A 32-year-old Motswana woman was stabbed to death by her former lover on Saturday afternoon at the United Lutheran Theological Seminary Paulinum Campus in Windhoek's Pionierspark Extension 1 residential area.
This death brings the number of women killed to six in just three weeks.
The latest victim was a third-year student at that institution.
According to police officers who spoke on condition of anonymity, the deceased was stabbed at least nine times with a sharp object, while a cut on her throat was also observed.
Paramedics tried to save her life, but she succumbed to her wounds at about 17h30.
According to residents of that campus hostel, the victim and her former boyfriend ended their relationship in December last year.
The suspect, a Namibian man, was arrested by the City Police after he called the police informing them about the murder. He also told the police he was going to commit suicide, but was arrested before he could do so in the area of Coetzee Street in Pionierspark.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
The suspect will appear in court early this week.
