Police re-arrest two of three fugitives at Omuthiya

OMUTHIYA, 18 FEB (NAMPA) – Police in the Oshikoto Region are appealing to members of the public to help track down a trial-awaiting prisoner who escaped from a holding cell at Omuthiya on Saturday.
Crime coordinator of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in that region, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua named the wanted fugitive as 33-year-old Erastus Immanuel Haimbodi, who was arrested in connection with two separate robberies committed at Ohangwena and Tsumeb.
Haimbodi is one of three trial-awaiting prisoners who escaped from the cells of NamPol at Omuthiya last Saturday.
Katjiua said the two other escapees have been re-arrested on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
They are Nadipite Gilbert Iimbili, 23, and Erikson William Kondo, 21.
Iimbili is a suspect in two separate armed robberies at Omuthiya and Oshakati, while Kondo is a suspect in a housebreaking and theft incident at Omuthiya.
The three men escaped at about 22h00 on Saturday after forcing open the burglar door of the cell.
The trio will now also be charged with escaping from lawful custody.
