The 2014 edition of the Namibian Annual Music Awards (Namas) will be held in Swakopmund, for the very first time.
Although the venue for the Friday (2nd May) event is not yet finalised, the [main] Saturday night event will take place at the Swakopmund Indoor Sports Centre for its ability to accommodate an approximate number of 4000 people.
Ticket sales start earlier compared to the previous years and the public can start purchasing them as from the 25th of this month. For security purposes, however, no ticket will be sold at the venue.
VIP tickets will cost N$450 while standard tickets will go for N$200 besides the special offers on 25th to 31st of March.
There will also be 400 'standing free tickets' for those who would like to attend the Namas but cannot afford to, such as the less privileged, school and university students.
Namas executive chairman, Tim Ekandjo, says there will be free transport to and from Swakopmund in luxury couches for all participants and accommodation will be provided for all the nominees on the 1st of May at the Swakopmund Bungalows.
“The organising committee is also hard at work to acquire three to four sponsored busses to transport those who wish to attend the Namas to and from Swakopmund at no charge provided they have a valid Nama ticket. We are also in the process of negotiating with the hospitality industry in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay for discounts, for travelling guests, provided they have a valid Nama ticket,” says Ekandjo.
