OUTAPI, 17 FEB (NAMPA) - The police in the Omusati Region are still trying to track down the man who is suspected of killing his girlfriend at Otamanzi Constituency’s Etilyasa village in that region last week.
The suspect is wanted in connection with the death of Helena Shivute.
He remains at large since last Thursday when the incident happened.
Warrant Officer Lineekela Shikongo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s public relations unit in the Omusati Region on Monday appealed to members of the public to assist the police to apprehend the suspect as soon as possible.
According to Shikongo, it is believed that the suspect in question is still in hiding somewhere around the Etilyasa village or at a nearby village.
Shivute, 28, was brutally killed at around 23h00 last Thursday after the suspect allegedly hacked her several times in the head with a panga and an axe.
The incident took place in the bedroom of the deceased, following an alleged quarrel between the two.
Shikongo refuted earlier reports that the suspect had committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the area last Friday.
“The person who committed suicide is a different one, and this person was discovered at the Otamanzi village and not at Etilyasa,” he said.
