Toddlers drown at Outapi and Oshikuku

WINDHOEK, 16 FEB (NAMPA) - A three-year-old boy drowned after he fell into a canal at Ohambalanganga village in the Outapi Constituency last Thursday.
Amutenya Naftal is thought to have drowned at around 16h00.
The Head of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Public Relations Division, Edwin Kanguatjivi said at the weekly crime briefing here on Sunday the deceased had allegedly followed other children who were looking after livestock near Outapi when the incident occurred.
Naftal’s body was discovered by a Namwater employee who was busy cleaning the canal at around 18h00.
His next of kin have been informed.
Meanwhile on Friday, the body of the two-year-old Sabina Tashiya Shikongo from Okalumbi village in the Oshikuku Constituency was found floating in a well.
It is believe that she fell into the well, and her body was found by children who live in the area.
Shikongo had allegedly followed her eight-year-old sister who had been looking for goats.
Her next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
Kanguatjivi also reported that the 49-year-old Frans Shaanika from Otsalindi village in the Otamanzi Constituency allegedly hanged himself from a mopane tree on Friday.
His body was discovered by a passerby on the same day at around 10h30.
His next of kin have been informed.
Another suicide was reported at Ohamwaala village in Outapi Constituency.
The 27-year-old Futo Kauhangenge Shahonga, an Angolan national, allegedly hanged himself from a tree on Sunday.
He did not leave a suicide note behind, but had apparently told his brother Saturday night that he was going somewhere and would not return.
The body of the deceased was discovered by a passerby on the same at around 07h00 and was taken to the Okahao police mortuary.
