WINDHOEK, 09 JUN (NAMPA) ? A 22-year-old man died in the Katutura State Hospital after he was stabbed by three suspects at a club in Windhoek?s Hakahana residential area in the early hours of Saturday.
Speaking at a media briefing here on Sunday, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said the incident took place at about 02h00 when a scuffle allegedly broke out when three men attempted to rob Golden Pienaar of his belongings.
The three suspects aged 17, 20 and 21 have been arrested and are expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate?s Court on Monday. Police investigations into the matter continue.
In the Hardap Region, a 23-year-old man also died after being stabbed.
An argument allegedly erupted between the deceased, Gert Afrikaner, and another man at a shebeen in Mariental. The man reportedly stabbed Afrikaner in the chest with a knife, and he died instantly.
The 22-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Mariental Magistrate?s Court on Monday. The police investigation continues.
In a separate incident, a man was allegedly held at gunpoint and assaulted by four men while he was taking a nap in his car at Otjomuise Pub in the capital. The incident occurred on Saturday at around 03h00.
The man was hit on the head with a pistol and the suspects drove off with his vehicle (a BMW); a cellphone; and a wallet. The victim was treated for serious injuries at the Katutura State Hospital.
No arrests have been made thus far, and none of the stolen items have been recovered yet.
In other crime news, the police reported two suicides.
In the Omusati Region, the body of a 16-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in a mahangu field at Olweelo village in the Outapi district on Friday at around 16h00.
The victim, Wilika Paulus's family have been informed of her death. Paulus did not leave a suicide note behind, and police investigations into the matter continue.
In the Otjozondjupa Region, the body of Lukas Shindjomba, 26, was found hanging in his room at Grootfontein on Saturday at about 17h20. Shindjomba also did not leave behind a suicide note.
His next of kin have been informed.
