WINDHOEK, 13 FEB (NAMPA) Over 670 000 eligible voters were registered at various registration points countrywide between 15 January and 08 February 2014.
Voters registration for the 2014 Presidential and National Assembly elections slated for later this year will end on 02 March.
Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Director, Professor Paul Isaak said in a media statement on Thursday that 670 906 eligible voters had registered by last Saturday.
The ECN has further registered about 1 790 eligible Namibians at designated registration points in diplomatic missions abroad, he was quoted as saying.
Isaak said this meant that the ECN has registered a combined total of 672 696 eligible Namibians in-country and abroad during the stated period.
The ECN Director further noted that although the Commission is satisfied with the number of eligible Namibians registered to date, its concern is that there has been a slight decrease in the number of voters registered at registration points around the country.
The ECN would thus, once again, like to urge all eligible voters to go out and register themselves at their nearest registration points, the statement read.
