The Namibian Defense Force (NDF) has sent three
helicopters to assist in the evacuation of flood victims in
Zimbabwe’s Masvingo Province.
Families in the Tokwe-Mukosi Basin will be airlifted with
the Z-9 and two Alloutte IIIs. The Namibian government
has sent the three helicopters in honour of the Zimbabwean
government's request for assistance.
According to the Defense Ministry, rainfall in that area of
Zimbabwe has reached 850mm, which has led to a 1.8m water
rise per day.
The helicopters will evacuate 63 families and their
households, before the six pilots and seven technicians
undertaking the aid exercise return to Namibia.
