MARIENTAL, 07 JUN (NAMPA) - Hardap Regional Governor Katrina Hanse-Himarwa has encouraged the youth in her region to actively participate in agricultural activities.
Speaking at a consultative meeting she convened with the youth on Thursday evening at the Persianer Hall in Mariental, Hanse-Himarwa asked the young people to make some effort to apply for land acquisition.
?We want to empower our youth, so form cooperatives and apply for land and tenders so that you can start working to produce food, employment and profit for yourself,? she stated.
The governor further said young people must take over the struggle for economic emancipation, because their parents fought to liberate the country.
She discouraged disputes between the 'followers and leaders' in the region, saying it is best that the youth work with their leaders to ensure their own, and the region?s, success.
?When you fail to get a tender, or to acquire a piece of land, do not fight your leaders for that, because by doing so you close your doors to success,? Hanse-Himarwa noted.
The governor also invited young people who want to start development projects to approach her with their ideas so that she can look into helping them.
?I guarantee you that if you put something in my hands, most probably something good will come out of it,? she told the gathered youths.
About 100 people, mostly youths, attended the meeting.
