ONGWEDIVA, 07 JUN (NAMPA) - The leadership of the Mangetti Farmers? Association (MFA), under the Ismael Shailemo, is accusing Kashona Kamalulu as one of the individual Ondonga people chasing Oukwanyama people from the Mangetti Block.
Shailemo and his group made the accusations in a media statement issued on Wednesday.
Kamalulu is a senior traditional leader of the Ondonga Traditional Authority as well as the newly-elected chairperson of a rival group of the Mangetti Farmers' Association which operates under the same name.
He is also linked to the controversial Ondonga King?s Special Commission which ordered Oukwanyama people to leave the farming area of the Mangetti Block, situated in the eastern part of the Ondonga traditional district.
The eviction order includes Oukwanyama Traditional Authority?s chairperson Senior Headman George Nelulu and the Ohangwena regional governor Usko Nghaamwa.
The Ondonga King?s Special Commission issued Nelulu and Nghaamwa with eviction letters through Oukwanyama Traditional Authority Queen Martha Mwadinomho waKristian yaNelumbu a month ago.
Nelulu and Nghaamwa own semi-commercial crops and cattle farming units in the Mangetti Block since before independence.
The majority of farmers in the Mangetti Block are believed to be Oukwanyama.
?We condemn in the strongest terms those who promote tribalism and chasing farmers from the Mangetti Block based on tribal lines. We want to inform this group that tribalism is buried with colonialism and apartheid at the independence of our nation,? the Shailemo group of farmers said in their media statement.
The Shailemo group went on to say it will not allow itself to be divided by the ?forces of tribalism?.
?We remain and advocate ?One Namibia, One Nation? even in severe drought situations in our country,? the Shailemo group argued.
Approached for comment, Kamalulu denied that he an anti-Kwanyama.
?I am not afraid of being linked to things I don?t know. Shailemo started telling people like Marry Kalangula and Mathias Ipandulwa (they are also farmers in Mangetti Block) that I am tribalistic before his (Shailemo) re-election on Saturday,? Kamalulu replied.
However, Kamalulu could not confirm or deny that he is part of the so-called Ondonga King?s Special Commission which issued eviction letters to Nelulu, Nghaamwa and others.
?I have no information in the matter (issuing of eviction letters),?Kamalulu said.
He added that Shailemo should explain as to where he got the information of him (Kamalulu) chasing Oukwanyama people from Mangetti Block.
?That is why I am saying he (Shailemo) should not play with fire,? stressed Kamalulu.
He informed this news agency that a meeting will be held on Saturday at the Oluno suburb in Ondangwa, where members of his group will expose the misuse of the assets of the MFA under Shailemo?s leadership as from 2005.
