Former sprint ace, Frank Fredericks, will re-run for Athletics Namibia (AN)’s presidency at the elective congress to be held in Oshakati this Saturday.
Fredericks, who took over the helm of athletics from Alpha Kangueehi in 2008, made the revelation to V-Sports today.
He said, according to AN's constitution and the Sports Act, he is still eligible to stand for a re-election.
“I am here to serve the athletes and the regions that have shown their support and willingness to re-elect me, as we would like to take AN to even greater heights,” said the former 200-meter sensation.
Namibia's only Olympic medallist (silver) said the affiliated regions already submitted their nominations by the due date, as is required and guided by the AN constitution.
Fredericks is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Committee since 2004, where he was re-elected this year.
